I LOVE PROJECTS! Whether it's cleaning out a closet, painting, rearranging a room or whatever, I really like to start something and see an obvious difference when I'm finished. I have these 2 old tables that my dad used to have in his office at work about 20 years ago (literally). The logo color of the bank he worked in was a hunter green, and these tables have been that same color all these years! Well, one of the tables is now in Garett's office at our house and the hunter green will no longer work! I saw something that looked fun on a blog a while back and decided to give it a try. I mean if it failed miserably, I could just paint over it, right? I wish I could remember which blog it was so I could post a link, but I just happened upon it and I have no idea what it was!
Here is the table before:
The idea is to Mod-Podge scrapbooking paper over the table to give it a fun look, other than just being painted. I decided that since it was for Garett's office, it needed to be something manly. Hobby Lobby came through for me and I was able to find these paper that looked like old war journal pages and some faux leather looking paper. I cleaned the table with Pledge and go started!
I cut the paper into different sized rectangles and laid them out before I actually glued them down. When they were all placed, I put a little bit of Mod Podge underneath them to keep it in place, let that dry a bit, and then coated the whole top of the table. I coated it twice to give it a smoother finish. I let it dry for about 24ish hours and then sprayed it with a coat of polyurethane.
And here is the finished product!
You can't see the details, but you get the idea! Garett recently bought a nail gun and he's itching to use it, so I'm thinking there will be many new projects to post about in the future!
